Reva Electric Car - no recharge but change

Reva Electric Car is very slowly showing up on Indian roads--mainly on Bangalore roads. It's a treat to see Reva zipping past without noise, huff, and puff. The car is good for young and old couples who need short commute within the city. Young show its Eco-friendliness and old enjoy its economy of running as the gas prices are shooting through the roof.

I would like to see this car making a grand worldwide success. I would like to suggest an idea to my dear friend Samrat Navle, who is an Industrial Designer with Reva Electric.

Provide Battery Change Points A big trouble with this car is a short running distance. Many times the commute becomes unpredictable - its may not be just from home to office and back home. Reva or their franchisees may have to invest in a supporting infrastructure that helps in a quick recharge. Now, this quick recharge is not actually a recharge, but a quick change of batteries.

A set of batteries are kept fully charged at a refill station which can be a gas station. A car can quickly change the set of batteries at a cost. This will ensure that a car is always charged, batteries never have to be bought (even once in three years) by the car owner, and gas stations have another revenue stream.

A change in car design for quick change of batteries (a worker must NOT unwire and rewire the connections each time) and pre-charged batteries at major gas stations in the city will drive Reva sales.

Very interesting idea Ripul. With the sales of Reva going up, we can hope they can invest more in terms of a bigger car for four.

Nice idea. I'm using this car in London where they are prefectly suited to busy urban streets. We get free recharging at some car parks in the city which helps enormously, but they could always use more range. I'm vlogging about the car at the moment.

A really nice Idea by Mr. Ripul. We would like to buy if such facilities by recharge station are provided.

REVA i feel its the best car.....I recently came across this news that Reva has launched its new version Reva-i. After all the hue and cry about its safety and performance it must be much better than Reva. After all it’s the highest selling electric vehicle (And Indian made). It’s worth trying a test drive. Don’t you think so?
